Pool Schmool: Completion Status

Put your swimming cap on and get ready to wet your pants. The second episode of the Episode Wepisode series is on its way.

I've just finished animating Pool Schmool, the second episode in the series, and I'm now onto sound design. Here is a few screenshots for you.

See if you can guess the plot, and while that's happening, I'll get into sound design.

The animated return...

Sorry about the lack of posts lately. My hands have been kept busy releasing the first episode, Office Smoffice, from the series Episode Wepisode. The idea behind the short web series is to have work related humor with an emphasis on "not caring", hence the naming convention.

The first episode focuses around a typical office worker, punching the numbers and calculating the dividends within solitaire. Hard at work, he becomes distracted by hallucinogenic apparitions which appear when he interacts with his coffee. Is he chronically bored or is it LSD? Find out next time...maybe, though more likely not :)

You can view the episode here:

Episode Wepisode 1: Office Smoffice

I previously posted some concept art regarding this animated short and I'll try to do the same for the next.

So, now that I'm back from Cannes, I can properly focus on the animations coming up.
Next on the list: Ginja Ninja - Full episode

Delay...ugh

So due to some unforeseen circumstances, the deadline for my little animation has long since passed...sadly. However, I can confidently say that I will be completing it this week, so keep those eyes peeled and that beautiful clicking finger on the refresh button as I'll be uploading it later this week. On a side note, I've begun collaboration with a fabulous game designer, Ben Hartley, to make a game intended for IOS, Android, and other smart devices...possibly pc and Mac. The details of the game are still on the drawing board but I'll be happy to update you guys with details as it goes along.

You can view that game "here" as it progresses.

To keep you tied over, I'm including a drawing of a dog...on a chair... racketeering.

Stay tuned folks...

Art I a Teaser

Hello again Internet.
Today I'm uploading some images from the short that I'll be completing this week. It's an office skit involving coffee and inanimate objects. The film is an experimentation in limited animation; one shot, minimal animation but the illusion of a lot, and limited character design that enhance the previous. So far it's going well, nearly 50% completed, and I hope to have it finished over the weekend.

Make sure you keep yourself glued to your wifi for updates.

Ginja Ninja

Ginja Ninja from Connor Johnston on Vimeo.

So yeah...sorry. Total animation time was about 2 days but procrastination set back completion by about 2 weeks. I have another film coming, hopefully at the end of the week. Just as a teaser, it involves coffee and many many colours.

So here's the moment of truth....well truth be told, I never actually finished this work as more academic stuff got in the way but I decided that I didn't want to just leave it lying around so I threw this together.

...please don't leave...

Soundtrack: Is it worth it?

So I've recently been listening to the SimCity 5 Soundtrack and I have to say that it may be the one redeeming feature about this game. The score is amazing, except for the Spore song, and I was almost tempted to buy the game because of it. However I don't think it's quite enough to ignore terrible gameplay, unremarkable design, and an all round disastrous game just to here the pretty music in context. For all I know, all the good music is probably used up in an advertisement about the DLC that will ultimately follow this junk pile, but whatever. Guess I'll wait to spend my money on Pokemon.
